Neighborhood History: Chicago’s Motor Rows Presentation (Dec 4th)

Hi Neighbors –

This note below was sent in by our friends over at the Edgewater Historical Society this morning.

It looks like it will be a great presentation of old photographs from the neighborhood during the early 20th Century. Thanks for sending this in Barb. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Edgewater Branch, Chicago Public Library: 6000 N. Broadway, Chicago 60660

“Chicago, in the early 20th Century, was a national hub of automobile commerce, home to the country’s largest concentration of car and truck dealers along south Michigan Avenue’s Motor Row. Smaller hubs flourished in neighborhoods, including Edgewater, which was home to the Northside Motor Row.

Join Preservation Chicago’s Erica Ruggiero on a photo tour of these, sometimes grand, remnants of automobile commerce – back when cars and trucks were new and everyone was buying.

The event is free and light refreshments will be available.” – Edgewater Historical Society
