Local artist and Edgewater resident, Cara Feeney, is adding a splash of color to the community this month, readying the CTA Red Line viaduct on Ardmore Ave. for a 10′-by-50′ mural. With the help of Seamus Fitzgerald, director of The Overhead Project (a community-based organization that helps fund nonprofit groups and projects), the two have assembled a team of skilled workers, and are cleaning the space and prepping the wall for a refreshed look that’s sure to bring life to the overpass.
Feeney expects to complete the mural early this summer, but would like to invite the community to join her on Saturday, May 23, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for a public painting day. Residents will have the opportunity to contribute by painting the archways and large swatches of the mural itself. For more information, email Cara Feeney at firstname.lastname@example.org.
