New Devon Development Nearing Completion with Restaurant Negotiations in the Works

Devon seems to be perking up. According to a statement released by Alderman Moore today, Three Corners currently is in negotiations with at least three separate restaurant groups to take over the new 7,000-square-foot ground floor commercial retail space on our stretch of West Devon. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of this month.

“The apartment and commercial retail development at 1240-44 W. Devon, known as The Apartments on Devon, is nearing completion and already several different restaurants have expressed interest in occupying the entire ground floor retail space.

Though the development required no zoning relief from the City, the developers of the project–Three Corners Development–agreed to meet with community residents last January to share their plans. I recently went on a tour of the development and I’m pleased to report the development is even more stunning than had been represented in the plans.

The site is located on Devon between Magnolia and Lakewood Avenues and was formerly a parking lot for the old Weinstein Funeral Home. Three Corners acquired the property in 2013 as part of their development of the new $1.4 million Heartland Health Center, which opened last year a block west of this location.”

“The Apartments on Devon is just the latest development that promises to bring new life and vitality to Devon Avenue. In addition to the new Heartland Health Center, Three Corners is also constructing a similar development on the south side of the street in the 48th Ward.

Audio Archaeology opened its doors to popular acclaim last year. A new upscale restaurant and pub at the northeast corner of Devon and Lakewood and a new brew pub at the southeast corner of Devon and Magnolia are both slated to open soon.

These developments complement the Uncommon Ground and other new restaurants that have opened up in recent years on Devon. The street definitely is undergoing a renaissance. It’s great for both Rogers Park and Edgewater!” – Alderman Moore
